Surgery, Spring, and the journey to 9 months!

Yes, I am posting. I can't believe it either. Mommy-hood is busy, and daily or weekly posting is almost impossible. Facebook is easy, because it is on my phone. Blogging takes some time, and any extra time that I get, I am spending with Eden or grading papers.

Eden is almost 9 months old. She lacks just a few weeks. I cannot believe how quickly the time has passed, and it makes me seriously want to push the pause button. She is the greatest daughter anyone could ask for. The Lord really had me taken care of! I feel like some moms live vicariously through their kids, and I can't understand that. The gift that Eden gives me is so unique and untouched. I would never want to mold her into anyone that isn't just herself. I can't wait to see how she develops and what things that she likes. I want to be the kind of mom that fosters positive enrichment and doesn't force things upon Eden.

Eden is already showing an interest in certain things. She LOVES animals. She laughs when one is around, and she loves touching their fur. She also loves being outside. The cool air is perfect. We have to keep plugs in her ears. She also loves anything music, and I catch her singing a lot. She just hummmms.

On last Friday, Eden had tubes put in her ears. It scared me to death...having her put under was not fun. But, it turned out great, and Eden is already better. She stayed on antibiotics for two solid months for ear infections. Now that she has the tubes, it should drain better. The doctor said that she had so much infection in her left ear that it could've caused hearing trouble if we hadn't gotten it out. Thank goodness we got it! She woke up from surgery screaming, but it was because she was soooo hungry!

Her development is crazy!! I can't believe how fast things change. Just the other day, my little girl was a bundle of stay-put love. Now, she is EVERYWHERE! She crawls everywhere. It isn't the traditional crawl. She can do that, but she always army crawls. She also pulls up alone, but if she is around me, she likes assistance. Her legs are still a little noodley. I think that her constant ear infections messed with her balance. Hopefully, now she will balance out. She says "ma-ma" and "da-da", but she perfers "da-da." In fact, if you ask her to say ma-ma, she will say da-da or da-dee. She waves now on command...usually with both hands! And, she runs crazy in her walker, but I don't over-do the exposure in the walker. She feeds herself little pieces of food, and she likes bites of everything. She just hates peaches. Everything else...LOVES. She is in 12 month clothing now, and she wears size 2 shoes and size 4 diapers. She is about 21 lbs., and I am not sure her length. It has been a while since anyone measured it, but I do know that she is still tall. She is still on Nutramigen, but she has been trying some yogurt with success.

Last weekend, we went to Wye Mountain, and we took some pictures of our angel. Enjoy!

6 Months!!!

Today, Eden is 6 months old! Where does the time go? I know that I don't update frequently on my blog, but honestly, with Eden, work, house cleaning, etc., I just don't have time to do facebook AND a blog! haha.

Eden is still the funniest child I have ever been around. Now, she can eat solids. She loves applesauce the BEST, but she will eat just about anything. She HATES bananas. If you offer her bananas, she will just close her mouth and not open it.

Eden now weighs a little over 17 lbs., and she is 27 1/2 inches long. She is still super tall. I have no idea where she gets it from. haha. She has been rolling for a long time now...everywhere, but now she is starting to semi-crawl. Well, first, she is army crawling. She can get anywhere that way. She is starting to put her little legs up under her. I think she will start crawling pretty soon. She can also sit up with minimal help. If you put her up, then she can stay for quite a while, but she can't get up all on her own. She also goes NUTS in her walker. Since she is so tall, her feet touch the ground in her walker. She cruises all over the house. If I go to the kitchen, I turn around, and Eden is in the kitchen. Etc. She follows me everywhere. Also, in her doorway jumper, she gets crazy too. haha. Especially if you say, "Jumpy, jump, jump." She starts jumping everywhere.

Her sleep patterns are great. She sleeps every night from 7pm-6am. Then, she gets up, eats, and goes back to sleep until 7:30. Then at 10, like clockwork, she passes out for her 2 hour nap. Then, she plays all afternoon. Around 3pm, she takes an hour power nap. Daddy and I sure enjoy our 2 hour nap when she naps! She has been doing this schedule for about 2 solid months. Before that, everything was the same, except she did wake up in the middle of the night once. She sleeps in her crib for naps and bedtime. We have a video monitor, and it sure does help. Eden refuses to sleep on her back. That is just something I have come to deal with. She HAS to sleep on her belly with her butt in the air. Sometimes, she will suck her thumb. Yes, I have a thumbsucker. I have no idea why, but she will NOT take a pacifier. She only does it when she is super tired. It is precious, and I realize that I can't really stop it right now.

Christmas was awesome with Eden. She had so much fun, and even though she is young, she KNEW what new gifts were! She LOVED all her new toys, and everyday, we have to play with them. She chews on most of them, but I get so amazed at how quickly she learns. She knows to hit certain buttons to make music, and she also has learned to turn the book pages to a CERTAIN page to get her favorite sound. Soooo weird, but awesome. You can even say, "Where's your favorite?" and she will turn the page from wherever you are to THAT page. She might just like that certain color. Who knows!?
Well, we are going to enjoy our new year. Happy New Year to you and yours!

FREEEEE Christmas Cards!!!

So, my friend Lori showed me this on Shutterfly. Apparently, it is really easy to do. You can get 50 free Christmas cards through Shutterfly. If you want this awesome deal, and it does work, you just follow this link (here). This isn't a hoax, and I didn't think it was true until I saw Lori's. It is true. They have the cutest cards! We have always loved Shutterfly, and we used them for all kinds of holiday cards. I also earn Pampers Rewards so that I can use it on Shutterfly!! Their cards aren't cheesy looking. The cards are cute and different...not your average holiday cards.

We decided that for our holiday cards this year that we would use Shutterfly's cute Santa Belt cards. We took pictures of Eden that matched, and then we just dragged and dropped the picture. Making the cards is super easy! You can also make holiday scrapbook pages!!!

Yummm...food!

Eden is getting so big. I can't believe how fast things go when you have a baby. She is 4 1/2 months old, and she can do so many things!! Yesterday, Eden had to go get her 4 month shots. She weighed 15 lbs. 2 oz. 26 1/2 inches. The doctor said yesterday that we could start her on strained baby foods like veggies and fruits. We have already been feeding her rice in her Bumbo chair, so last night, we upgraded to tender sweet carrots and bananas. She seemed to like the carrots the best, but she may have just been getting tired.

I swear this baby is going to take off soon! She rolls everywhere, and she has started using her legs when she is on the floor. Of course, she can't get her chest off the floor. She can get her chest off the floor if she raises it with her arms when she's on her belly. She just can't coordinate the legs AND the arms. haha. Still, she is doing sooo good.

Today, she is pretty fussy. She is NEVER fussy, and so I guess it is from her shots yesterday. The first time, the shots didn't make her fussy, but this time, you can just tell she doesn't feel good. Well, I just wanted to write a short post about her new foods. Hope everyone out there is doing great!

Almost 4 months old!

Whoosh, time has just flown by, and I have barely had time to shower, much less post on this blog. I do more home videos and picture taking than blogging. I guess I am a little old fashioned.
I like picture books, movies, and scrapbooks much more than writing a post. I think Eden will really like to have all those one day. Plus, with working...Lordy!

Well, Eden Maria is almost 4 months old. She will turn 4 months on Nov. 1st. I would like to have a birthday party (super small) for 6 months. Just invite some close friends and family. Really just an excuse to get everyone together. She is still the happiest, most laid back baby that I have ever known. She sleeps all night (95% of the time), and she entertains herself. Now, she rolls EVERYWHERE! I can't keep her still. She obviously can't crawl, but when she sees something she wants, she just starts rolling continuously until she gets there. She does really well with her head up too. We started cereal a month early (I know, bad mommy), but she is already 14 1/2 lbs., and she is a BIG and TALL baby. She was just never full. I tried to spoon feed her, but she gagged. :( So, we will try that again soon.

We got her Tom Bagby pics made for three months! She had one tiny cry during the session, but he got the most amazing pictures of her!

Eden has had a time with sicknesses. I was never a sick baby, and neither was Seth, but Eden seems to catch everything. She's had two ear infections, and this is her second bad cold. This one, she actually coughs tons. This past week she went to the doctor and the ER. I am taking her back tomorrow morning to make sure she is doing good. She is the happiest sick baby. It just stinks because she can't eat very well, and she can't sleep well because she can't get air.

I have been back at work for almost one month, and it has...been sad. Okay, well, really...it hasn't. I have fabulous children, and they are always willing to do their work. I think this is the best Spanish classes that I have had in years! But...I am still away from my Eedie. I do still wish that I could just stay home and take care of her. Teaching is soooo much easier than being a stay-at-home mom. I hope one day that we make enough income that I can stay with her.

Seth and I can't believe how much things have changed. Of course, it has all been a welcome and sweet change. We thought that life was great before Eden, but now, we know the true meaning of life. I have to say, the greatest thing in the world is being her mom. Anything else is so trivial compared to being her mom. I love my baby girl more than anything. Seth and I have talked about having another baby, but we are still so undecided, because...sure, we want one, but it would be so hard to divide our attention from Eden. I guess you learn how to do that though.

Well, until next time...and it may be a while...hope everyone is doing great!
